typediabetes

Theme: What type are you?

We all know diabetes comes in two main types: Type 1 and Type 2. But not everyone knows that diabetics can develop two different personalities too. We’ll admit that this isn’t a hard science, but our experience shows this to be true.

Closed off types

With regards to diabetes, you can usually make a distinction between two personality types. You have young people who carry around their disease quietly. They don’t like talking about it, and never inject in public. Not many people know that they have diabetes. At most, they may do a presentation about it at school. But that’s pretty much it. They get their information online and contact others via messenger or forums – as anonymously as possible. They have given diabetes a place in their lives, though they certainly have their difficult moments.

Open types

In addition, you have children and teens who want to talk a lot and share their experiences with others. They tend to be much more extroverted. They generally have no problem with measuring their blood sugar or taking their injections in the presence of others. They may also like to give presentations or talks at school about diabetes. Diabetes plays a big role in their lives and therefore they want to share their knowledge and experience with others.

But whatever type you are, remember: one is not better than the other!
