Medical: Which symptoms might you see with diabetes?

The symptoms depend on the type of diabetes you have and if you are already receiving treatment or not. We will summarize the most common symptoms.
You suffer from these symptoms when your blood sugar level is too high, so when you are not yet receiving treatment for diabetes (when you are not yet diagnosed) or when the insulin levels are not yet managed through medication.

With diabetes Type 1

  • often weeing (urinating), often thirsty
  • fatigue, you get tired quickly, you feel weak
  • feeling sick and miserable
  • nausea and loss of appetite, or extreme hunger
  • stomach ache and/or chest pain
  • weight loss
  • drop in growth rate
  • blurred vision
  • difficulty breathing, a smell of acetone in your breath
  • dizziness
  • diabetic coma (loss of consciousness caused by too high blood sugar level)

With diabetes Type 2

  • oftten weeing (urninating), often thirsty
  • fatigue, you get tired quickly
  • shortness of breath, difficulty breathing during exercise
  • irritated eyes (red or burning eyes)
  • problems seeing (seeing double or worsening vision)
  • pain in the legs during exercise
  • wounds healing badly
  • increased vulnerability to infections (recurring infections)
